Installation of Linear Bearing Rails and Tin Mill BHP Port Kembla

Twin Rail 30m Long were installed to a tolerance of  0.13mm of level and 0.25mm of being straight.

Tolerance were achieved using Construction Survey Pty Ltd using a Precision level and Theolite 

Relative distances between rails were achieved using a purpose build jig, dial gauges and Master Level.

 

Once Aligned the linear bearings for the coil cars and walking beams were installed onto the rail system.

The mechanical equipment was then bolted to the bearing and freed of movement confirm by moving equipment along the rails manually.

The align was such that 3 tonne coil carriers could be pushed by hand along the rails.
